Our Achievements since 1999............. Media
and Journalism Program: The
key goal of CCD is to enhance the professional efficiency
and skills of journalists and build capacity of local media
so that they can play effective and vital roles for social
goods and human well-being. In this regard, the major
achievements of CCD are as follows; ±
CCD has been playing significant role in enhancing the
professional efficiency and skills of the journalists
working in the northern region through arranging different
training courses, workshops and orientation programs in the
district and sub-district levels. Almost 70% journalists of
the region took part in these programs. As a result the
professional skill and quality of the journalists working in
the northern region is much better than that of journalists
of other region. ±
CCD successfully arranged a number of training, workshops and
orientation courses for young people and most of the
participants are now working with regional and national
newspapers and TV channels. ±
CCD succeeded in encouraging journalists to conduct media
campaign and media advocacy against human trafficking
through arranging training course on the issue. ±
For the first time in Bangladesh, CCD initiated AIDS
Journalism trend in the country and CCD has already trained
up 500 journalists on HIV/AIDS issues in the northern region
of the country. Through these training programs CCD
succeeded in forming Anti-AIDS Journalists Alliance (AJA).
As a result, journalists of the northern region actively
took part in the rally and meeting in the street on HIV/AIDS
awareness issues and they are still providing extensive
media coverage on the issue. ±
For the first time at the local level in Bangladesh, CCD
initiated Community Journalism trend among the indigenous
people in the country and for this purpose CCD has already
arranged a long-term community journalism training course
where 30 indigenous people of northern region took part. ±
For the first time at the local level in Bangladesh, CCD
initiated Economic Journalism trend in the country and for
this purpose developed a training manual on the issue.
Moreover CCD has already trained up 300 journalists on
Economic and Trade Reporting in the northern region of the
country. Through these training programs CCD succeeded in
forming Economic Journalists Network (EJ Net). As a result,
professional skill of the journalists on Economic and Trade
Reporting increased much more than that of journalists of
other region. ±
For the first time out side of Dhaka, CCD successfully
arranged TV Journalism and Production training. Most
participants are now working in several TV channels. ±
CCD successfully arranged two Radio Journalism and Production
training courses. Most participants of these training
courses are actively involved in producing radio programs
for CCD. ±
CCD successfully arranged a number of training courses,
workshops and orientations for the media owners and
journalists on election, human trafficking, environment,
arsenic, gender, good governance, human rights etc. related
reporting. Audio-visual Program:One
of the key goals of CCD is to utilize the full power and potential of
audio-visual media to make mass people aware on several
socio-economic development issues. In this regard, the major achievements of CCD are as
follows; ±
CCD successfully used the Government controlled radio in
broadcasting talk show series from Rajshahi and Rangpur
radio centres to create mass awareness on HIV/AIDS issues.
CCD has done all activities including taking permission of
the Government, program recording, editing, presentation etc
for the radio talk shows. ±
CCD successfully produced and broadcast magazine programs
from Rajshahi radio centres on local economic and trade
related issues. ±
CCD is now producing a series of women related magazine
programs ±
CCD successfully produced and broadcast feature programs from
Rajshahi radio centres on local impact and success of micro
credit ±
CCD successfully produced an audio CD on folk and traditional
songs. ±
CCD successfully produced a number of video documentaries on
various issues and broadcast it thorough multi media
projector among the communities.
±
CCD successfully arranged hundred of community video shows in
northern region on HIV/AIDS, safer sex, gender, women
empowerment, youth development and human rights issues. ±
CCD
has planned to establish community audio-visual media
centres in Rajshahi region of Bangladesh in near future. Press Freedom and Right to
Information Program: One of the key goals of CCD is to ensure free flow of information and right to information and freedom of press and journalists as well. In this sector, foremost successes of CCD are given below; ±
CCD successfully developed some recommendation for amending
Right to Information Act 2008 and submitted it to Government
and Ministry of Information. ±
Since
the time of its inception, CCD has been working for ensuring right to information
of mass people in northern region of Bangladesh. For this
purpose, CCD arranged a number of consultations, advocacy
meetings and workshops, dialogues, seminars, exhibition,
human chains, rallies etc. ±
CCD has been successfully arranging effective events such as
dialogues, seminars, exhibition, human chains, rallies etc.
on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day since the time of its inception. ±
CCD has been regularly monitoring violence against
journalists and media in northern region of Bangladesh and
publishing its reports. ±
CCD has been working in northern region of Bangladesh as the
key agent for ensuring freedom of press and journalists. Women Empowerment Program:Another
key goal of CCD is to enhancing empowerment and leadership
skills women in media and development sector as well as
society as a whole. In this regard, the major achievements
of CCD are as follows;
±
For the first time in Bangladesh, CCD successfully arranged
long-term journalism training program for women in Rajshahi
for increasing women’s participation in journalism and
media. Most of the participant women of the program are now
working with regional and national newspapers and TV
channels. ±
For the first time in Bangladesh, CCD successfully arranged
long-term Radio Journalism and Production Training program
for women in Rajshahi for raising women voice through media.
Most of the participant women of the program are now
actively involved with CCD for producing radio programs. ±
CCD successfully formed a women based forum named Women’s
Empowerment Network (WEN). About 30 potential young women
have been working with WEN for their empowerment and raising
women voice through media. ±
CCD successfully arranged a number of life skills training
courses, event management training courses as well as
workshops and orientation courses for women on HIV/AIDS,
safer sex, reproductive health, public speaking, leadership
etc. Youth Leadership Program:Youth has been
identified as one of the key priorities for the work of the
organisation. CCD is committed to
make the youth people active citizens so that they can
utilize their full power and potential for overall
socio-economic development as well as for ensuring their
participation and raising their voice on several regional
and national issues. In this regard, the major achievements
of CCD are as follows;

CCD successfully formed a non-political student forum named
Bangladesh Advanced Students Alliance (BASA) in 20
educational institutions including Rajshahi University in
northern region of Bangladesh for making the students active
citizens and utilizing their potential for social
development. About 2000 students have been working along
with BASA and they are also working as volunteers of CCD as
a whole. ±
CCD along with BASA has been working in 20 educational
institutions for creating awareness on HIV/AIDS, safer sex,
human rights, good governance, democracy, peace and
non-violence etc. issues among the students. ±
CCD along with BASA successfully arranged a number of big
events for students such as regional youth festival, debate
festival, inter-college debate competitions,
inter-department debate competition in Rajshahi University
to make the student active citizens. ±
CCD successfully formed a non-political youth forum named
Rajshahi Youth Citizens Forum (YCF) in 30 words of Rajshahi
City Corporation for making them youth leaders. About 300
potential young people have been working with YCF and they
are also working as volunteers of CCD as a whole. ±
CCD along with YCF successfully developed Regional Youth
Agenda and submitted it to government and Youth Ministry. ± CCD successfully arranged a number of life skills training courses, event management training courses; report writings training courses for the students and youth people for making them youth leaders and active citizens. A huge number of students and youth people who were members of BASA and YCF have got good job in various government, non-government and private organizations and they are now doing well in their respective job. ± Three (03) members of BASA successfully visited UK and India for gathering advanced knowledge and skills. Cultural
Program:
Another
key goal of CCD is to nourish folk culture among the youth
people and utilize its full power and potential for
disseminating information among the grassroots and
marginalized people for making them aware and sensitizing on
several issues so that they can be able to rich in
information. In this sector, the major achievements of CCD
are as follows;

CCD
successfully formed a youth cultural forum named Youth Voice
where a number of potential young people have been sincerely
working. Organizer
of this forum Moshiur Rahman Rinku and Wasim Kabir Polash
have already appeared as one of the best five singers of Close
Up 1 talent search competition of NTV and become popular
Baul singer in the country. ±
Along
with Youth Voice, CCD has been successfully arranging different exceptional
programs including folk cultural function, popular theater,
forum theater, street theater and Gomvira Asor in all the 16
districts of the northern region and the head quarter of
Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna and Barisal division on
HIV/AIDS, drugs abuse, safe blood, safer sex, women
violence, birth registration, polio vaccination, human rights, good governance, democracy, peace and
non-violence etc issues. ±
CCD successfully arranged a number training courses on
Education Theater, popular theater, Forum Theater, street theater,
stage performance, cultural event management etc. ±
CCD successfully arranged cultural campaign in Rajshahi for
creating massive awareness on children and adolescent birth
registration. ICT4
Development Program: Another
key goal of CCD is to utilize full power and potential of
information and communication technologies (ICTs) for
overall socio-economic development as well as ensuring its
proper application for disseminating necessary information
among mass people. In this sector, the major achievements of
CCD are as follows;

CCD
is the first organisation in Bangladesh who developed
HIV/AIDS based website (www.baids.org) and published
e-newsletters on this deadly issues. ±
CCD
is the first organisation in Bangladesh who developed
indigenous peoples based website (www.saontalvoice.org) and
published e-newsletters on indigenous related issues. ±
CCD
has been regularly publishing e-newsletters and e-bulletins
on its activities and disseminating these among hundred of
organisations, development activists, researchers and
journalists around the world. ±
CCD
successfully arranged a training course for Rajshahi based
journalists so that they can utilize ICTs in their
professional activities.
±
CCD
successfully arranged a number of training and orientation
courses for youth and students so that they can be aware of
the necessity and application of ICTs for their professional
development. ±
CCD
has planned to introduce and broadcast Online Radio and TV
in near future and it is now under process. ± CCD has planned to establish a number of telecentres in rural areas of Rajshahi region in near future. Research Program:±
CCD successfully conducted a study on Importance and
Necessity of Community Radio and its findings were published
in a number of regional and national newspapers of
Bangladesh. ±
CCD successfully conducted a study titled High Risk Behavior
of Youth and Students regarding HIV/AIDS. ±
CCD successfully conducted a study on People’s Information
Need on HIV/AIDS Issues. ±
CCD successfully conducted a research on AIDS Communication
in Bangladesh. ±
CCD successfully conducted a number of public opinion surveys
on national parliamentary election and city corporation
election and published its reports and finding in most of
the regional and national newspapers of Bangladesh. ±
CCD successfully conducted a study titled Causes and
Consequence of Women Trafficking and its findings were
published in a number of regional and national newspapers of
Bangladesh. ±
CCD successfully developed a HIV/AIDS prevention model called
Social Capital Building Communication (SCBS). Developing Contents and Publishing Program:Media and
Journalism related Contents: ±
CCD successfully developed Radio Journalism and Production
Training Manual in English and bangla. ±
CCD is working now to develop TV Journalism Training Manual. ±
For the first time in Bangladesh, CCD successfully developed
AIDS Journalism Training Manual. ±
For the first time in Bangladesh, CCD successfully developed
Economic Journalism Training Manual. ±
CCD successfully developed Event Management Training Manual. ±
CCD successfully developed a number of training modules,
training materials and fact sheets on election, human
trafficking, environment, arsenic, gender, good governance,
human rights etc. related reporting. Cultural
related Contents: ±
CCD successfully developed a number of theater
scripts and lyrics on HIV/AIDS, drugs abuse, safe blood, safer sex, women
violence, birth registration, polio vaccination etc issues
and utilized these in stage performances. BCC and IEC
Contents: ±
CCD
successfully developed, published and disseminated a number
of BCC and IEC contents such as posters, leaflets, stickers,
booklets, festoons, banners, billboards, caps, t-shirts,
lapel pins etc. on HIV/AIDS, drug abuse, safe
blood, safer sex, women violence, birth registration, polio
vaccination etc issues. Audio-visual

CCD successfully produced a number of radio magazine program
and talk show series on various issues and broadcast these
through radio centres. ±
