Public Opinion Stressed to Prevent Women Violence

Women
violence and its tendency is growing up in Bangladesh.
So the mass media and journalists have to play effective
role to build up strong public support and opinion to
prevent women violence.
Speakers
urged it in the closing and certificate giving ceremony
of the 3-day thematic orientation of journalists held at
the seminar room of Institute of Bangladesh Studies
(IBS) in Rajshahi University (RU) on Saturday. Mass
communication oriented development organization BCDJC
and CCD Bangladesh jointly organized this orientation.
Speakers also said, women are becoming victim of
violence, torture, negligence, assault and harassment
everywhere from family to the upper level of the
society. The Government and non-government organizations
are working hard to upgrade this situation but did not
succeed up to the mark. That is why, the active role of
the mass media and journalists can develop the situation
initiating women violence prevention movement.

presented welcome address in the ceremony.

young journalists and 16 potential young ladies
interested to be journalist actively took part in the
orientation supported by Canadian High Commission in
Bangladesh.
