Have to Advance for AIDS Prevention
Rajshahi,

Calling
upon teachers to come forward to prevent HIV/AIDS,
speakers said, teachers can play main role in making the
students and young people aware of this deadly
disease.
Speakers
urged it in the orientation on the Role of Teachers in
HIV/AIDS Prevention held at the premises of Rajshahi
Madar Bux Home Economics College in Rajshahi today.
Speakers said, due to the prevailing social environment,
teachers and students cannot discuss the vital issue
like HIV/AIDS frankly, but for the greater interest we
have to break this barrier. For the sake of students'
welfare, speakers stressed upon creating enabling
environment of open discussion on this serious issue.
Mass
communication oriented development organization CCD
Bangladesh and its co-organization Bangladesh Advanced
Students Alliance (BASA) with the support of National
AIDS/STD Program (NASP) and UNICEF organized this
orientation.
Chairman
of Mass Communication Department of Rajshahi University
(RU) and Chief Advisor of CCD Bangladesh Dulal Chandra
Biswas facilitated the orientation. Among others, Acting
Principal of the College Seheli Akhter, Lecturer of
Psychology Akter Banu Bina, Assistant Professor of
Social Welfare Ayesha Siddiqa, Program Advisor of CCD
Bangladesh and Australian Youth Ambassador for
Development (AYAD) Laura Martine Bos, Program
Coordinator A H M Abdul Hai, Program Organizer Abu Tayab
Shah and A B M Saiful Islam Suman spoke on the occasion.
Above 50 teachers of the college actively took part in
the orientation.
Meanwhile,
a networking meeting of CCD Bangladesh and BASA was held
in Puthia Degree College campus this morning.
