Election Observation Trainings Conclude in Rajshahi
Observers Must Work with Honesty and Sincerity
Rajshahi, November 17:
Calling
upon the observers to perform their duty with honesty
and sincerity to make the coming national parliament
election free and fair for the uplift of democratic
system in the country, speakers said, they must not be
controversial in their role and responsibility.
It was opined in the closing and certificate giving
ceremony of the training on long-term election
observation held in Rajshahi on Friday. With the support
of International Republican Institute (IRI), mass
communication oriented development organization CCD
Bangladesh organized this training with the view to
strengthening the skills, capacity and efficiency of the
election observers here.
Speakers also said, for the sake of continuity of
democracy in the country, it is inevitable to make the
coming national election free, fair and peaceful one. In
this respect, election observers have to play most
significant responsibility during the election. Only
then it is possible to remove all type of vote rigging
and irregularities in the election.
Noted journalist and Chairman of CCD S M A Quader graced
the ceremony as chief guest and handed over certificates
and election monitoring handbooks to the participants in
an auspicious function while renowned lawyer and
President of FEMA, Rajshahi Advocate Mohsin Khan was
special guest in the function. CCD Director G M Mourtoza
presented welcome address in the function.
Notably, a total of 75 members and organizers of BASA,
Youth Voice and Youth Forum of CCD actively took part in
five training courses on long-term election observation
started from November 13 here.
