Journalists Trainings on Human Rights Reporting

The basic objective and purpose of the training courses was to flourish Human Rights Journalism trend for strengthening human rights promotion movement and enhance skills of local journalists on human rights related reporting.

To attain these objectives CCD has successfully organized 04 (four) Human Rights Training courses with the guidance and financial support of Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (TFD). These training courses were held at greater district town Dinajpur, Gaibandha, Rajshahi and Natore of the northern region of Bangladesh. The reasons of selecting these cities and towns are that majority of the regional newspapers are published from these cities and correspondents of different leading national newspapers, news agencies and electronic media such as television and radio are mostly available here.

A total of 120 journalists from the selected districts actively took part in these training courses. The participants were local correspondents of different national newspapers, news agencies and television channels as well as news editors, chief reporters and staff reporters of the newspapers published from this region.

Media experts from Department of Mass Communication & Journalism of Rajshahi University, human rights activists along with senior officials of CCD conducted different sessions of the above mentioned training courses.

All the sections including journalists have appreciated this project as a timely venture. Most of the local journalists are requesting CCD and TFD for arranging such type of training course for them. As per the request of local journalists CCD would like to arrange more journalists’ training course at other districts of Bangladesh.
