Journalists have to Come Forward to Lead the Society

Calling upon journalists to come forward to lead the society, speakers said, media people can play unique role in creating responsibility and accountability and in preventing corruption in every tier in the society.

It was said in the closing ceremony of the 2-day orientation course of journalists held in Rajshahi on Tuesday. Bangladesh Centre for Development, Journalism and Communication (BCDJC) with the support of USAID and The Asia Foundation arranged the orientation course. Knowledge centre CCD Bangladesh provided all-out locally support to successfully arranged the program.

Chief of Party of Leaders of Influence (LOI) of The Asia Foundation Russell Pepe and Deputy Chief of Party Nazrul Islam addressed the function respectively as Chief Guest and Special Guest. Joint Director of BCDJC Muhammad Nurul Hasan, Coordinator of Capacity Building Program of CCD Bangladesh Sarder Mohiuddin and Program Officer Mahfuzul Hoque Sagor presented welcome address in the function held at the conference room of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

The orientation course was arranged with view to informing the journalists working in the northern region of different development and social issues. A total of 54 journalists of different national and regional news media working in Rajshahi, Chapai Nawabgonj, Natore, Naogaon, Joypurhat and Pabna districts actively took part in the orientation course.
